Per andeux’s citation of Slusser:
Former A’s scouting director Grady Fuson is expected to rejoin the team this month as an adviser to general manager Billy Beane, team sources confirmed.

I still have no idea what that acro means.
EDIT. I’m an idiot. Perhaps I’ve had one concussion too many. Dur.
up
Boy, you don’t use it for a while, and it just goes away …

TWSS
up
What does that acronym mean?
up
It actually took me a long time to figure that one (and its variants) out after y’all started using it a lot in game threads a couple of years ago.
up
Holy shit. You could look it up in the ANcillary Terms!Holy shit.
The popular narrative was that Beane and Fuson weren’t on speaking terms after Moneyball came out. There was a rumor that Fuson met him with an icy stare at the Winter Meetings a few years back. But, in light of today’s news, I think it’s safe to say that incident was just Beane and Fuson, both famous for their practical jokes, putting on a show for the media.
That’s right, cold Fuson was a hoax.

Someone should post the exact same Link Dump for the next three weeks.
Just for fun.
up
How about we all just dump the exact same link?
up
Phil? Hey, Phil? Phil! Phil Connors? Phil Connors, I thought that was you!
up
You’re cruel.
up
here
up
I was teasing MB, but it’s good to have the link anyway.
up
(whatever we call it around here) OTM.
up
Seconded.
up
How about calling it “FUCK” (Funny, U Cool Krauter!)
up
And chilly Beane was a crock.
up
Chilly Beane is not my lover.
up
LOL
Did we ever invite McFood?
up
Wasn’t he on FK 1.0?
up
Hmmm, I wonder who posts here occasionally who might know him very very well …
up
who? (seriously, I don’t know)
up
He and Ice Cream swim in the same gene pool.
up
got it. Must be something about the family, but I like ‘em both.
up
I sussed it out relatively early.
up
That would be slussed out.
up
slussed her bay shun?
up
You seem a bit confused. Maybe you’re distracted by your catering business in Vt.
up
That was the “artist formerly known as mkt is a whiny douchebag” subthread!
up
Wow, how times have changed.
Or not.
up
Yes, I hardly ever confuse you with iglew any more.
up
mdl? mkt? words?
up
And yes, yes we did.
up
McFood’s on the down low with a new job and family obligations. He’ll come ’round in time.
up
Yay new job!
up
Glad to hear he got a job…I remember he was laid off a little while ago and seemed both upset and worried about it.
up
15-day, 30-day, or 60-day?
up
Could be any or all of ‘em.
He’s “day to day”.
up
has he managed to keep up his bat speed?
up
When you’re on the down low, there’s often a difference between home and away stats there.
Within the next year, Forst and Fuson will be running the club day-to-day as Beane gets kicked upstairs.
up
Yes, in keeping with Billy’s transition into soccer, he’ll be taking more of a hands-off approach.
up
… yet we’ll still ascribe all of the A’s success to the Hand of God.

I’m frankly surprised this development isn’t getting more traction — there’s a very easy, stupid nail-in-the-coffin-of-Moneyball/burying-the-hatchet hook for writers.
And it’s a genuinely good development for the A’s.
up
That suggests most of the media can remember that far back.
up
Eh, I was thinking more of the sabergeeks who nw have cushy msm gigs (and the requisite GET EYEBALLS WITH HOURLY CONTENT dictum that goes along with such status).
up
Since the Moneyball movie was canned, the media probably has lost 95% of its interest. Come to think of it, Moneyball-movie probably kindled renewed Grady-Billy love, since it portrayed the first as a closed-minded moron and the second as a wheeling-dealing, womanizing, obsessive with a joyless life.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. My feeling about the MB screenplay (pre-Soderbergh) was that it probably had the same relation that West Wing had to politics and Sports Night had to sports reporting, and that’s about the best you can hope for in a Hollywood movie.
up
OMFG. In other news, I am psychic.
Apparently Aaron Sorkin has taken over the MB screenplay and the movie project is in fact on again.
up
needs moar psilocybin
up
FK needs moar psychics.
up
We apparently don’t need moar words starting with a silent p, though.
up
… says FK’s resident psalmist.
up
Take it up with psalb918.

up
Is that an invisible p?

Is the left side of the image not displaying correctly for you?
