Setting the table: weekend grill 030710

  1. Youths on the mound, youths on the mound
  2. Wait, what?

DH Jack Cust started 50 games in right field last year, but Geren said left field is the position of choice in 2010.

  3. Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper baseball player?
  4. An additional 3.1 million people lack coverage. PASS. THE. DAMN. B- … Uh, never mind.
  5. RALLY PIMPERNEL … PLACE MATS AND TRAY & COASTER SET?

    1. Wait, how does that instantly change a softball field into a baseball field? That looks nothing like a pitching mound. It looks like one of those instant putter things.
    2. Shea goers on:

Geren then proceeded to pour no less than three gallons of “freshly made vanilla pudding” down his pants.

    3. He’s 5′10″–how is that a little short anything, save basketball player?!
    4. The whole New York City cable thing seems to be constantly going on. Either the cable in NYC is just shit or the stations use NYC as a battleground for their issues. Either way, all of us should be glad we don’t live there. Oh, and the cable situation sucks, too.
    5. Pretty….

    Bonus!

    6. Listening to Boston playing Baltimore right now, live from Ed Smith Stadium on the north side of Sarasota, Florida. This is the Orioles first year here and I have to listen to these Orioles announcers go on and on about how much nicer this facility (that the Reds fled from last season) is than their old one in Ft. Lauderdale. And all I can think of is, “How bad must’ve the facilities in Ft. Lauderdale been to be so impressed by this run down piece of shit stadium in the worst neighborhood in Sarasota?” Seriously, three blocks away is crack central.

    Doesn’t this speak for itself?

They keep saying “Local Area Subject to Blackout”–it’s like five miles away. What’s the blackout area?

I was at the game on Friday and saw Stassi present a check for a charity before the game. 5′10″ is very generous, I’d imagine he’s probably more around 5′6″-5′8″. If he really is 5′10″ then Michael Taylor is 7′+.

Dang, I was looking forward to radio baseball today. Now I’m stuck with chores.

I want some unusual bookshelves. I’m sick of the same Target specials I’ve got all over. Anyone got any serious ideas?

I might just go get some blocks and planks and go retro.

I had chairs that swiveled and rocked and had an ottoman that were that exact color!

    I loved those things.

No, I’d really rather not, and am ashamed for having wanted to as a lad when Speed came out.

She had the best speech, though.

Worst parts were the utter lack of hosting and the fellating of best actors/actresses.

…and by far the worst movie. Trite, condescending toward black people, formulaic…it was a piece of filth. They could’ve given it to Rally Helen or Meryl Streep, or the young lady who played Precious. But no, we wanna give it to a movie that everyone will be completely embarrassed of five years from now, even though they should be embarrassed now. MORONS.

Totally agree. Though I had just watched The Hurt Locker the night before, and I have to say it didn’t do much for me. I’d say good movie, not great movie.
